One of the most rewarding aspects of working within a school, is finding out how our former students are excelling outside of The Manor Academy.
Manor Alumni Jacob O’Connor recently shared with us an update of his further education, studying Level 3 Film and TV at West Notts College. Throughout the course Jacob has discovered his passion for the film-making industry and has begun to develop his own creative projects after attending the Mansfield Film Festival and producing his own short film, Jacob is now well underway in production of a second short film as well as a documentary.
On top of his own projects, Jacob is also ensuring that he learns alongside industry professionals. Working with the dedicated staff of the NHS, Jacob assisted in the production of a video detailing the life-saving work that occurs at City Hospital. Jacob has also joined a documentary crew on a project detailing the achievements of the ‘Oar Blimey’ sailing team, who recently completed a voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in an incredible attempt to raise money for those suffering with Dementia.
Not content with an already prolific portfolio of work, Jacob recently joined the Mansfield Town media team at pitchside, Jacob helped capture extra shots for a match highlights video, even getting the chance to film footage from the pitch itself after the final whistle.
All staff at The Manor Academy are incredibly proud of Jacob and the amazing career that he is building for himself. It is always a pleasure to see former students thrive outside of the school and we love hearing updates from former students.
Both The Manor Academy and The Two Counties Trust wish Jacob the best of luck as he looks to further his education, studying Film production at the University of Lincoln later this year.
