On Tuesday 7th March, The Manor Academy will be visited by award-winning author Mitch Johnson. His debut novel, Kick, was endorsed by Amnesty International UK for its portrayal of children’s rights and has been translated into multiple languages. In 2018, Kick won the Branford Boase Award, a prize given to the most promising children’s book by a debut author. Mitch’s second novel, Pop! was published in May 2021 and was nominated for the 2022 CILIP Carnegie Medal. Spark, his latest novel, published in 2022, was longlisted for the 2022 Wainwright Prize.
Mitch’s books deal with humanitarian and environmental issues that help young people understand how important it is to protect our planet and each other.
Mitch will be delivering a year group assembly, and a smaller workshop, for a selection of lucky students, during his visit.
