Last academic year, Manor’s safeguarding team worked alongside the other schools within in the trust on a half termly safeguarding campaign, to raise awareness of key themes of concern, and to have a common tag line for students to recall – tell a trusted adult. The campaign last year was successful in that ‘Tell a trusted adult’ became every day vocabulary across the trust and students became more confident in making disclosures around the themes raised. The trust are continuing with the campaign for 23-24, and the theme for this half term is Concerned about a friend: Tell a trusted adult. All students will take part in assemblies and PSHE sessions specific to this theme.
The Concerned About A Friend topic has been chosen to ensure that we give a clear and consistent message about what to do in difficult situations. This is the first one because students often find it more emotionally accessible to distance their learning. In this case we are asking them to respond to the needs of another person and so it enables them to show care for others and also provides space for them to reflect upon their own safety and wellbeing.
If your child has any concerns about a friend please encourage them to speak to a trusted adult.
